Product information at the core of digitalization

Fescon Oy is the largest Finnish developer and manufacturer of dry products for the construction and industrial sectors. The company’s main products include mortar, sand, and coating products, and it supports professionals in nearly all stages of construction.

Digitalization Began with Product Information Management

Fescon and e21 began their collaboration in 2015, focusing on digitalizing Fescon's product information. Previously, data for over 500 products was scattered across various sources, making it challenging to manage and prone to errors.

To address this, e21 implemented a centralized Product Information Management (PIM) system via the e21 Business platform, streamlining product data handling in five languages for faster updates and improved accuracy. The system also integrated with Fescon’s online service, simplifying the management of both product information and the website through a single platform.

Sales and Purchasing Tools Leverage Product Information

Fescon also implemented e21 Business plaforms web-to-print tool, automating layout creation. With this tool, salespeople can easily download up-to-date product descriptions and customer-specific price lists directly from the web.

In addition to automating layout creation, calculators for wet area construction and thin plastering were developed to support product selection. These tools make it easier to choose the right product combinations and also help predict material consumption.

We have over 500 products in our price list, and our product range continues to grow. We had been searching for a solution to manage our entire product package for a long time. When e21 representatives came to us, we had a lightbulb moment and realized that this product was exactly what we had been looking for. No one else had anything similar ready-made.

Customer-Centric Redesign with High-Quality Product Data

Fescon revamped its online service, focusing on a customer-centric approach. Building on well-managed product data, the redesign included profiles of key customer groups, ensuring they could easily find products, solutions, and references. Workshops clarified target audiences and service paths, guiding the entire development.

The result was a more user-friendly, strategically aligned online platform, enhancing visibility for the new business and laying the groundwork for future growth.

Seamless Collaboration

Thanks to the excellent collaboration, Fescon’s extensive product information is now up-to-date and well-managed. The centralized system has reduced confusion, rework, and uncertainty about where to find the correct information. In addition, the centralized product information enables continuous development and the building of new sales tools. Ultimately, almost all development work is based on high-quality, well-managed product information.
